Liban Badel Sheikh Mohamud officially became a member of the House of Representatives of the Puntland State, after the Committee on Ethics and Assembly Affairs proposed to fill a vacant seat.
The committee based this decision on the provisions of the Puntland State Constitution and the Bylaws of the Assembly, including:
Article 61 of the Puntland Constitution, Annex 4 of the Constitution of Puntland, and Article 62.3 paragraph 6 of the Bylaws of the House of Representatives.
A statement from the Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, dated 25 September 2024, confirmed this member’s proposal. Also, the name of the signatory of the chair submitted an official letter on 10 October 2024, which confirmed that Liban Badel Sheikh Mohamud has met all the requirements for membership of the Council.
The committee said that it is important to fill the vacant seat, in order to speed up the work of the Council. Also the new member of parliament read his biography in front of the House before he was sworn in by a judge from the Supreme Court .
The new MP will join the Puntland House of Representatives, with his term ending on December 31, 2029, God willing.
