In a high-profile event held in the United Kingdom, Somalia won the Glotel Awards, winning the competition from the United States, England, India and South Korea.
“We are happy that Somalia has won the international Connecting the Unconnected Award given by Glotel Awards for Telecom Media in the UK” said in a statement from Hormuud Telecom Company.
This event that took place in London, Hormuud Telecom was awarded this international award, which recognized the role of the company in connecting the Somali nation and the rest of the world.
The award was contested by many companies, including Wifinity in the United Kingdom, Zayo Group in the United States, HFCL in India, and SK Telecom in South Korea.
Awards were also presented to 24 leading telecommunication and technology companies in the world such as Intel, Huawei, Vodafone, Saudi Telecom, Ericsson, ZTE, and China Mobile.
The government of Somalia has praised the companies and other organizations that have achieved success in the world, the first of which is the Hormuud Telecom Company, as this is part of the historic achievements of Somalia in the international arena.
