The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to the development of the country’s democratic process and to give the Somali people the opportunity to elect their leaders.
The President of the Republic who delivered a speech at the occasion of King Charles III of the United Kingdom at the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Mogadishu praised the traditional relationship between Somalia and the British Empire.
He also presented the importance of strengthening the government and the development of the country, implementing democratic elections and returning power to the people.
“Elections are the most important pillar of democracy based on the wishes of the Somali people. The government is working to ensure that the Somali people fully participate in the guidance of their future and that they have the constitutional right to choose who will lead their destiny.”
President Hassan Sheikh has asked international friends to stand by the Somali government at this historic stage, in order to achieve political stability, security and sustainable development in the country.
