The Israeli army hit the capital city of Beirut in the south of the country on Tuesday, while at least 20 people were killed in another attack that it targeted in the center of Lebanon yesterday.
Yesterday’s airstrikes in Beirut were said to be the heaviest that Israel targets in broad daylight in areas controlled by Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Israel said it hit Hezbollah targets in the Dahiya area of Beirut. In a statement issued late yesterday, it said that it had destroyed most of Hezbollah’s weapons stores.
On the other hand, Hizbullah also hit northern Israel with artillery on Tuesday. Two people died after a shell hit a residential area in the city of Nahariya in the north of Israel.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack that was aimed at a military base in the east of Nahariya.
The Israeli military said that Israelis living in the north were forced to seek shelter after Hezbollah drones attacked the area on Tuesday but it did not cause any damage.
