Reports says half of Sudan’s population to be undernourished also aid agencies such as the World Food Program have long struggled to deliver emergency aid to the affected areas.
The head of the WFP said that they have not received a guarantee from the Sudanese authorities that they will remain open after next month after the border crossing, Adre, in western Sudan was reopened in August for three months.
The effect of the shutdown would be catastrophic, said Cindy McCain.
She also stressed the need for safe passage following recent attacks on aid workers.
