Jubaland Security Forces (SSF) in Lower Jubba which has been under the control of the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) since 2015 playing an important role in the defense of Kismayo.
Col. Ibrahim, an officer of the ATMIS, praised the Kenyan forces for securing the security of the Lower Jubba region and urged the Somali forces to do the same work .
He also point out ,that this shows how Somalia is ready to take over the responsibility of the security of its country.
Kudhaa’s handover follows extensive planning between ATMIS, SSF, and Jubbaland forces, which ensures a smooth transition.
This event is part of the process to conclude the full transfer of security responsibilities to the Somali forces by December 2024, when the United Nations and African Union mission is expected to take place.
