Authorities in the Hiiraan region, part of Somalia’s Hirshabelle State, are mobilizing for a new phase of military operations aimed at dislodging Al-Shabaab from their remaining strongholds.

The campaign is being spearheaded by Macawiisley, a local militia force composed mainly of community members determined to drive out the militant group from their territory.

According to Liibaan Omar Hassan, the spokesperson for Hiiraan region, the anti-Al-Shabaab operations will continue with full force. He stressed that removing the group from all parts of Hiiraan remains a top priority.

Liibaan also noted that residents are playing a key role by sharing intelligence to guide planned operations, and he promised that the impact of these efforts will soon be evident on the ground.

Although previous operations had temporarily stalled, meetings are now underway to strengthen and reorganize the offensive. The ultimate goal, officials say, is to restore full government control across the entire region.
