The Somali Minister of Finance, Mr. Biixi Imaan Cige, participated in one of the plenary sessions of the Annual Meeting of the IMF and the World Bank, which was chaired by the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, and attended by Finance Ministers from African countries.
In a brief address during the session, Minister Biixi spoke about the impact of climate change on Africa’s economies and emphasized the importance of finding sustainable solutions to the challenges posed by climate change.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Biixi and his delegation held a productive meeting with the UK government delegation attending the event. Their discussions focused on investment opportunities, the effects of climate change, and strategies for recovery and resilience.
Additionally, the Minister held a bilateral meeting with the Director General of the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), Mr. Fahad Al-Turki. The two discussed economic reform strategies, financing, and development planning aimed at promoting economic growth.
