Somali Parliament Elects New Member to Constitutional Oversight Committee.

The People’s Assembly of the Federal Parliament of Somalia convened for the fourth sitting of its 7th session, chaired by the Speaker of the Assembly, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Noor (Madobe).

The session, which met with a quorum of 156 members, focused on the election of a new member to the Committee for the Review and Monitoring of the Implementation of the Constitution. The position was contested by MP Omar Ali Isaaq (Balash) and MP Luul Ibrahim Omar.

The vote was conducted by secret ballot. At the conclusion of the voting process, Speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe announced that MP Omar Ali Isaaq (Balash) had won the seat with 92 votes, while MP Luul Ibrahim Omar received 68 votes.

The outcome marks an important step in the continued work of the Federal Parliament to oversee the constitutional review and implementation process.
