Kismayo, Somalia — The delegation of Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has just departed from Kismayo, after being seen off by Jubbaland President Ahmed Madobe.
The talks, which had been ongoing since last night, concluded without any agreement. Both sides remained steadfast in their positions, resulting in a stalemate.
Despite the deadlock, sources report that to avoid a complete breakdown of the dialogue, the parties agreed to issue a joint statement to prevent the talks from collapsing the entirely progress. The statement also confirmed that the talks will resume at a later date.
The Somali Presidency has officially confirmed the conclusion of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s trip to Kismayo and announced that another meeting between President Hassan and Ahmed Madobe will be arranged to continue the dialogue process.
The discussions are seen as a crucial step in addressing ongoing political disagreements in the Jubbaland region and working toward national stability.
