Somali President Calls for Stronger US-Somalia Economic Partnership

Mogadishu, October 04, 2025 –  The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, delivered a keynote address today in the capital, Mogadishu, at the Somalia-US Presidential Trade Forum where he emphasized Somalia’s readiness to integrate with the global economy and the government’s efforts to create a peaceful and stable environment that encourages trade and investment.

President Hassan Sheikh highlighted that Somalia is rich in natural resources, has a growing market, and a youthful, innovative population and stressed the government’s commitment to fostering a secure and stable environment that promotes investment and business.

The President also underlined the importance of trade and technology cooperation, noting Somalia’s plans to prioritize the development of modern economic infrastructure, investment in agriculture, fisheries, and energy, and the creation of employment opportunities for youth and women to actively participate in economic growth.

He added that bilateral trade and cooperation are key to a prosperous future and emphasized Somalia’s ambition to become the gateway for trade in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea.

The President commended Somali entrepreneurs and members of the diaspora for their role in the country’s reconstruction, strengthening partnerships, and expanding trade.
