Mogadishu, Somalia — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has firmly stated that no foreign national can enter Somalia without first obtaining a visa. He clarified that Somalis holding foreign passports are subject to the same legal requirements as any other foreign citizen.
Speaking at a government showcase event in Mogadishu, the president highlighted the recently launched E-Visa system, which mandates that all travelers using non-Somali passports must apply for a visa online prior to arrival.
His remarks follow public concerns over the implementation of the policy, particularly regarding additional fees reportedly being charged in some instances.
The president reaffirmed that the policy is part of Somalia’s broader effort to regulate entry and ensure legal consistency for all travelers, regardless of origin.
