The Ugandanian troops who are part of African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) said they killed Osman Hussein Buune, a Al Shabab leader in the Lower Shabelle region, after a surprise operation near the Bulo Mareer district on Sunday, September 14.
The Ugandan Department of Communications confirmed the news in an official statement, indicating that the operation was a planned operation against senior Al-Shabaab officials.
General Joseph Musoke Ssemwanga Commander of the First Sector of the Ugandan army said that the operation resulted in the seizure of various items including, a pistol, a small bag, a drum, two mobile phones and other undisclosed items.
The General described the operation as a significant victory in the fight against extremist groups operating in Somalia.
