AUSSOM Hosts High-Level U.S. AFRICOM Delegation to Strengthen Security Cooperation in Somalia.

The Special Representative of the African Union and Head of AUSSOM Amb. El-Hadji Ibrahima Diene hosted a high-level U.S. delegation led by US AfricaCommand Commander Gen. Dagvin Anderson & U.S. Ambassador Richard Riley at AUSSOM Head quater in Mogadishu.

They discussed AU–AFRICOM support for Somali Security Forces, operations against Al-Shabaab, & enhancing cooperation for long-term stability.

Amb. Diene highlighted AUSSOM’s role in Somali-led peace processes, while Gen. Anderson praised the Mission’s impact on stabilising Somalia and the Horn of Africa. This is Gen. Anderson’s first regional visit since assuming command.

Also present were Deputy Force Commander Maj. Gen. Peter Muteti & Police Commissioner Hillary Sao Kanu among other senior officials.

During his visit, General Anderson is also scheduled to meet with the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and the Somali National Army Commander, General Odowaa Yusuf Rage, to discuss accelerating joint operations against Al-Shabaab
