Former US Ambassador to Somalia, Larry Andre Jr., said that Somali forces should be thanked for containing Al-Shabab.
The ambassador specifically said that the reason Al-Shabab has not reached other areas such as Puntland and Somaliland is because Somali forces and international partners have them.
“What Somaliland and Puntland need to realize is what the Somali national army and international allies, especially the African Union, have done to control al-Shabab in the south of the country, so that they can say look how good we are and there are no al-Shabab attacks in our area,” the ambassador said.
“They should say thank you to the Somali national army and their international partners who have stood up to al-Shabaab and controlled the South,” he added.
