The Somali National Army’s elite Danab Commandos, supported by international partners, conducted a planned operation in Awdheegle, Lower Shabelle.
Over 100 Al-Shabaab militants, including senior commanders, were killed. Their tunnels & bunkers were destroyed.
Intelligence reports confirmed that Al-Shabaab had been preparing to resist Operation Silent Storm, the ongoing offensive led by the Somali National Army in cooperation with AUSSOM forces across Lower Shabelle. This strike dealt a heavy blow to the group, following a series of recent defeats in Sabiid, Caanoole, and Bariire.
This operation forms part of the Federal Government of Somalia’s sustained campaign to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s operational capacity, protect civilians, and restore lasting stability across the country.
