At least 60 migrants died after a boat carrying nearly 150 people capsized off the coast of Yemen in bad weather on Sunday.

The boat ran aground on the coast of Ahwar district in Abyan province in southern Yemen, near the Arabian Sea, according to security sources.

The search for other missing people is ongoing, with the United Nations and the Yemeni Coast Guard working together, according to officials briefed on the situation.

Most of those missing are believed to be Ethiopian nationals, the IOM said, describing the incident as regrettable.
Last year alone, IOM recorded more than 60,000 migrants arriving in Yemen.
