The Puntland State Government is deploying Puntland Maritime Police Force (PMPF) coastal town of Lasqoray in Sanaag Region to establish a new base there from which to organize operations against ‘AS’ and ISIS.
Reports indicate that the second largest PMPF base is being established in Lasqoray district, after the one in Bosaso, to ensure overall security along the coast of that district.
Sanaag region, which is administratively claimed by the Puntland State, is also claimed by the recently declared Northeastern Administration, which has yet to respond to the plan to deploy PMPF forces to Lasqoray.
This move comes at a time when the Puntland government is preparing for Operation named ONKOD to eliminate the terrorist militia Al-Shabaab, which Puntland forces are carrying out in the Calmadow mountains of the Sanaag region.
