A press release issued by the Ministry of Interior of the Federal Government of Somalia announced the completion of the SSC-Khatumo state formation conference.
This new administration consists of four regions: Sool, Sanaag, Cayn and Togdheer, with the city of Lascaanod as the capital of the administration.
A total of 417 delegates participated in the Grand Conference, all of whom endorsed the Constitution of the new North Eastern State of Somalia through a show of hands, marking a historic moment in the state formation process.
It has been announced that the new parliament for the North East region will consist of 83 members, who will be selected through peoples elections.
Finally, the Federal Government of Somalia has welcomed the peace efforts, consultations, and consensus reached in the establishment of the new administration in the Northeast.
