The Somali National Army, together with the local armies today prevented the attack by Al-Shabaab in the Gumare area, under the Moqokori district of the Hiran region.
Heavy fighting is still ongoing in the area, with officials leading the operation telling the National Media that they have inflicted a heavy defeat on Al-Shabaab, who are in a state of retreat, with the National Forces closely pursuing them.
Al-Shabaab suffered heavy losses, while assessment of the group’s casualties is still ongoing .
Also the formal information is expected to be realesed from the Hiiran region and also the Somali government in the coming hours.
