The Somali government forces, in a planned battle carried in the areas of Awdhiigle, Bariiri, Sabiid and Canoole in the Lower Shabelle region , killed militants from the Al-Shabaab group and weapons were also seized, according to the Somali government.
Al-Shabaab militants also blew up important route bridge in Bariiri area to prevent government forces and civilians from using it.
The Somali Minister of Defense said that the recent fighting in the Lower Shabelle region resulted in the deaths of Al Shabab group but he did not specify the number of members killed.
The Minister also confirmed the group blew up the brigde , which connect the two sides of the river and was important for the local people, who are mostly farmers.
