The Somali National Army and local forces are advancing from several directions this morning towards the areas known as Afarta Tuulo, in the Middle Shabelle region.
The allied forces are now less than 5km from the Masaajid Ali Gaduud district, while they are also advancing towards the areas of Ceel Baraf, Miirtaq, and other nearby areas.
The President of the Hirshabelle State, Ali Guudlawe Hussein, has visited parts of the front lines of the war, conducting military mobilization and morale boosting in recent days, to strengthen the ongoing new operation.
