The Federal Government of Somalia has commented on the losses inflicted on Al-Shabaab in the fighting that has been ongoing in the border areas of Hiran and Middle Shabelle regions over the past 48 hours.
The statement issued by the Ministry of Defense of Somalia congratulated and commended the Somali National Army and the Somali National Army in Hiran region, who inflicted a heavy defeat on Al-Shabaab in an attack on the border areas of Hiran and Middle Shabelle regions.
“More than 70 members of the Khawarij group were killed in the fighting, and a large amount of weapons were also recovered from them. This is the second defeat for the Khawarij group in two weeks,” the statement from the Somali Ministry of Defense said.
Meanwhile, a statement from the Somali government’s Ministry of Information said that government forces had defeated Al-Shabaab’s attempt to expand into Hiran and Middle Shabelle, and they are now pursuing areas in the Middle Shabelle region.
