The President of the Self-Declared Independent Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Cirro), has called on the world to consider the recognition of Somaliland as it seeks.
President Cirro, who delivered a speech commemorating the May 18th anniversary of Somaliland’s declaration of independence, which was widely observed in Somaliland today, said “Somaliland has fulfilled the requirements for an independent nation, and the world must recognize Somaliland as a country.”
The President added that he has sent letters requesting recognition to more than 190 presidents, prime ministers, and kings around the world, who have requested recognition. “We have sent letters requesting recognition to all 195 member states of the United Nations, and yesterday we received that request,” said President Cirro.
President Cirro also said that Somaliland can help find a solution to the problem in Somalia, noting that they are aware of the problem.
