Local forces from the Macawisleyda region launched a planned attack last night on Al-Shabaab militants in the Tawfiiq area, under the town of Masaajid Ali Gaduud in the Middle Shabelle region.
The attack caused heavy losses to the Al-Shabaab group, with key positions there being destroyed.
Also, airstrikes were carried out in the area, targeting areas where many militants were present.
Sheikh Ali Muse, one of the clerics in the Nur Dugle area who participated in the rescue operation, told Risaala Media that the Al-Shabaab group was defeated in the attack, and security operations are underway this morning in several areas surrounding the attacked area.
