The Council of Ministers of the Jubbaland State has strongly addressed the ongoing political developments in the country, expressing deep concern over actions taken by the President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. According to the Council, these actions pose a serious threat to national unity and risk returning the country to a dark political era.
In an official press release, the Council stated that the country is increasingly being steered towards authoritarian rule, undermining the political consensus upon which Somalia’s federal system was founded. The ministers expressed particular concern over the apparent dismantling of the national consultation framework meant to address critical political issues.
They also warned against political interference in federal member states, which they say undermines regional autonomy and disrupts the necessary cooperation between federal and regional governments.
The Council of Ministers of Jubbaland ultimately called on all political stakeholders to uphold the unity, cooperation, and constitution of the nation in order to prevent political setbacks and potential instability.
